Tonawanda News — The Secretary of State John Kerry doesn’t have his head up his butt and closed the embassies, unlike Hillary.

Mayor Ortt is throwing his weight around again. Knocking off two Democratic appointments to the Historic Preservation committee so he can put his people on. He says he has the power to do so. That may be. Although, the Republicans are so two-faced especially when they put a fuss anytime former Mayor Soos wanted to use his authority. I guess the power only applies to them. That is why we need some diversity on the council.

I would like to give thanks and praise to the young man who found my debit card at the Sunoco gas station on the corner of Niagara Falls Boulevard and Ruie Road. Acts like that do not happen enough these days. I am very grateful for your honesty. Thank you.

Let’s see if I can explain why Obamacare is a good thing: Think about why we are required to have car insurance. Imagine if it wasn’t required, only some people would buy insurance. The people who have car insurance would see sky high premiums because they would be helping to cover the costs of those who won’t buy it. Say you get into an accident, you did the responsible thing and purchased car insurance, now someone hits your car and they don’t have insurance. Whose pocket do you think the repair costs will come from? Short answer, you! If there are more people paying into the system it keeps premium costs down for everyone. Obamacare works the same way. More people will be paying into the system thus lowering premiums for everyone. All people should be able to afford health insurance for their family. One single tragedy in a family can bankrupt a family who can’t afford health insurance. That is unacceptable. Republicans say that uninsured people can just go to the ER for their care, ask them who pays for that, the answer is those who have insurance. It is reflected in our premiums. Obamacare expands preventive care so illnesses are caught early. This saves money. Seniors have already seen lower prescription costs. It is common sense that if more people pay into the system there will be competition which reduces consumer costs. One more thing, the individual mandate in Obamacare was originally supported by Republicans and conservative groups, now all of a sudden it’s evil. Hypocrisy anyone?

Like Gomer Pyle used to say: Surprise. Surprise. Surprise! But it is no surprise that Bob Clark got the appointment to the at-large seat by the Republican council. He has been endorsed by the city and county Republican committees. So if the News had some guts why don’t they question Andres and the clique as to why they even when through this charade? Same political garbage, and the same lemming response.
