Tonawanda News — I thought I would take a moment and inform at least some of the American people about the deficit. You are being fed a lie, the Republicans keep screaming that the deficit is spiraling out of control. It is not. Since President Obama took office in 2008, the deficit has been cut by half. You don’t have to believe me, check it out yourself on the Congressional Budget Office website. Now the Republicans won’t stop the sequester from taking effect. If the sequester takes effect, the economy will be damaged and the slow recovery will go back to recession!

If any of the Tonawanda News readers are interested in a column that would separate fact from fiction about what is going on in Washington, please contact the editor. I would love to do a column that would provide real, truthful, non-partisan information to the voters. With all the static out there it is impossible to know the truth. Readers could submit questions about things that matter to them and get a fact-checked response. I believe creating a well informed electorate is the best thing we can do or our country. I take a real serious interest in finding out the truth behind what I read, I don’t listen to one source and just believe it and neither should anyone else.

Those bridges will keep getting hit until the height is put on the bridge in big numbers. Well today I see that they are removing the stop light at Ruie and Ward roads. Well that light was put there because there were a lot of fatal accidents there in the past. Are we going back to killing people because our politicians don’t know the past and why the lights are there. Or is it going to be a trap to catch speeders coming in from Wheatfield?
