Tonawanda News — I hope the good taxpayers of North Tonawanda did not have to foot the bill for the lavish ball the paid firefighters of North Tonawanda had.

Traveling with our grandson to church and Sunday School yesterday we passed by Rescue Fire Company and their football fields packs with hundreds of kids and parents. None of these people, kids and adults alike were in Church yesterday. I find that a real shame and a negative commentary on our community. I don’t blame the kids. Give them a choice- football or church, they will probably pick football any day. Rather, I put the full blame on the league leaders, the coaches and the parents. They have 5 weekday evenings (the field has lights), all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon to schedule practices and games, but they choose instead to take these kids away from worship. Shame on you!

I wonder if the Tonawanda News would sponsor citizen debates to help people learn about the Presidential Candidates. I’m not talking about screaming matches, I mean intelligent debate based on the facts not the rhetoric from either campaign. In many cases, people only watch and listen to media that’s skewed towards a certain party. Therefore they will not hear the real truths, just the spin. I encourage everyone to educate themselves on the issues, after all we are the ones who have to live with their decisions.

Hello, I am probably the person who you are accusing of lying about Mitt Romney. I respect that people have different opinions about the candidates. However, I educate myself on the candidates and what they believe. Mitt Romney has been on every single side of every single issue. I looked into both plans for Medicare, Social Security, the economy, jobs, the debt and deficit and I came down firmly on the side of President Obama. I’d don’t tell people who to vote for, I encourage them to look at the issues and decide who will be better for our people and our country. Every voter owes it to themselves and their children to research beyond what the candidates or even what I say.
