The Tonawanda News

Tonawanda News — Sound Off should employ a reply button so we could rebut specific goofy statements. The NRA was not suggesting that guns would have thwarted the bombing. They were rightfully saying that the fugitive brother could have easily taken a hostage and hid in any one of the “shelter in place” homes. The police cannot be everywhere. The NRA merely made the point that having your own gun may have came in handy for protecting your family against that disparate, cop-killing, cold-blooded murderer looking to hide out in your home.

I’m pleased that the City of Tonawanda police will be taking part in the Click It or Ticket campaign. We know that only stupid people don’t use their seat belts, so I trust the police will be setting a good example and wear theirs, as well.

Meadow Drive extension is finally going to go through all the way to Erie Avenue, and that’s very nice, wonderful for the city of North Tonawanda. I really appreciate that. Where we are right now to save money and to make the project viable, city engineers reduced the road from 40 feet to 30 feet, therefore narrowing the road by 10 feet or 25 percent of the original width of the road as per planned. So now, as I think about this, we’re right back to Nash Road all over again. A road that’s too narrow for the traffic, not much room for parking at all if there is any parking and probably many, many accidents. I think that the project needs to go back to 40 feet or not at all.
