Tonawanda News — I was just curious if the city’s going to plow the streets. Do they have enough trucks or is this part of the Republican budget so that everything can happen so we can get snowed in? This is another member of the new independent party.

Could you please address the situation at the dead end at Fredericka Street and Payne Avenue. The whole sidewalk is totally covered with a big pile of snow. It’s unsafe. My children are getting off the bus and having to walk in the street.

In today’s paper, Wednesday, it states that in Mayor Ortt’s victory speech that he was going to concentrate on the streets. Well the streets of this city are deplorable.

This winter has been very, very snowy. I’m just wondering why the plows never go down the avenues. I’m specifically talking about 8th, 7th, 5th, 6th and 4th. It’s horrible how little they come down here. It’s disgusting. We pay our taxes like everyone else in North Tonawanda. Come on guys, let’s get the plows down here. And also 8th Avenue and 11th Avenue, the roads when they are clear, have so many potholes. I’m really hoping this summer they get fixed.

I sent an email to the City of Tonawanda mayor and council voicing my disapproval of the cameras. The only two who responded to me were Council members Smilinich and Koch. Thank you for taking the time to respond. We might want to remind the others that we, the people, give them a paycheck and not returning an email is unacceptable.

I read with interest the mayor’s infrastructure plans for the city. It’s too bad that sidewalk and street light maintenance don’t qualify for attention. Two assistants in the mayor’s office and no one can call the power company about failing street lamps. I guess they’re not called Republi-can’ts for nothing.
