Tonawanda News — The amount of truck traffic on East Robinson is out of control. I have lived on this street for 17 years and I have never seen, not once, an 18 wheeler pulled over for a citation. An empty 18 wheeler weighs about 35,000 pounds; with a normal load it’s likely to be around 50,000. What is that doing to the street? It takes about 40 percent more distance than a car to bring these trucks to a stop. With all the deer on this street, how long will it be before we have one of these trucks crashing into a home? Hello, NT police, can you hear us?

I’m tired of hearing the phrase “one party rule.” I’ve never gone into a voting booth to choose a party. I’ve gone in to choose an individual to represent what I believe is what I’m looking for in political office. Nobody truly represents Democrat or Republican ideals because nobody can define what those really are. Even among the ranks they disagree with what their own platforms are. North Tonawanda has one party, technically. How many have changed parties to suit their political careers? Several. This means they don’t value the party they represent as much as they value saving their jobs by following the money. Let’s start getting good people to run rather than concentrating on party politics.

There is a man on Moll Street near Alice Street in North Tonawanda who has a 4 wheeler that clears our sidewalks and does some of the elderly people’s driveways and I want to say thank you for your time and efforts. He doesn’t ask for anything but just does it. Actually he looks like he has fun doing it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. You are a thoughtful person.
