Tonawanda News — I’d like to call out the people on Robinson, in the 800 block, before Jefferson Street that never shovel their sidewalks. Could they please shovel their sidewalks so we don’t have to walk in the road.

Kudos to the readers letter, Vocational Education Being Overlooked. I certainly think it’s not a bad thing if a child wants to go for a vocational diploma versus a regents diploma. I know plumbers that make more money than some lawyers do. It’s not a bad choice.

Someone said something in Sound Off about Russ Rizzo, that he jumps ship for personal gain. Well, you know, when you’re 80 years old and you’re at that point in your life, I don’t think anybody does things for personal gain.

They’re talking about these red light cameras. I think they should install cameras for speeding. If you’re going 31 mph in a 30 mph zone, I think you should get a ticket. Hey, if you obey the law, you’ve got nothing to worry about.

Red light and speed cameras are installed for one reason and one reason only, revenue. Unlike radar and laser guns, cameras do not need salaried police officers to operate them and the conviction rate is higher. More over, municipalities that employ such electronic devices intentionally levy fines that are lower than attorney fees. There’s no question that traffic laws should and must be enforced but not for the purpose of financing the cost of government.

Maybe if the North Tonawanda Public Works would’ve hired some people before the storm they could have had all these potholes that are six inches deep taken care of. Thank you. This is a member of the new independent party.
