Tonawanda News — I’m always amazed by things I see around town. Like the three-masted ship and paddle-wheel boat parked at the marina off River Road. There was a story on the news about the sailing ship but I’d like to know where the paddle-wheel boat came from.
The place: Fletcher Street in the City of Tonawanda. The time: day after Christmas. The event: a City salt truck throwing out loads of salt and immediately behind him a City plow pushing all the salt to the side of the road. You cannot make this stuff up!
So the smart economists like to blame the income gap for holding back the economy as reported in the paper. No wonder we’re in trouble if that’s their terrific analysis. First, something causes the gap — too hard to figure out you guys? Jobs continually go elsewhere like factories to the Philippines since we have the highest corporate taxes and there’s the chunk gas takes — do you think a Republican president would get away with that? Then with Obamacare a low wage worker can kiss his dreams of going into management goodbye since he can only work 29 hours. Government money printing helps those with some stocks but what economic strength is there for regular people — food costs are high due to fuel and regulatory concerns.
