Tonawanda News — Red light cameras? What data exists to justify these? What is the number of accidents at these intersections because of red light violations? Have the police monitored these areas to observe the number of potential violations? None of the intersections mentioned are so overly crowded to prevent police enforcement. Are we relying on the vendor to produce this “video presentation” of all of these violators at the chief’s request? If that’s the case, those running Tonawanda are easily swayed. Redflex will install these cameras at no cost to Tonawanda. That is because they, the company, knows it’s an easy money maker for them. Does it solve a problem? Does a problem really exist? Mayor-elect Davis says this is being proactive to prevent a family of 4 from being hit by a tractor trailer going 45-55 miles per hour. Really? That family will still be hit with the cameras but Tonawanda will make $50 off their tragedy anyways. The public needs to be heard on this money-making scheme. North Tonawanda did things the right way. They have cameras to alert the police to activity, not to punish the public.

I’m calling to express my opinion on handicapped parking tags. If anyone wants to take my handicapped parking tag they’re more than welcome to it. Just take my M.S. with it. Otherwise I’ll be keeping it.

I, too, am tired of the phrase “one party rule.” Most of us don’t vote for a party, we vote for an individual. If people who share our ideals and same values are of the same party, so be it. And by the way, maybe the reason North Tonawanda is getting so many grants and so many businesses have decided to open is we have a council, an attorney and a mayor who are in agreement to making that happen. If that means one party rule, bring it on.

I see Mayor Pilozzi is blowing his own whistle, exactly what I said a year ago. These accomplishments he’s taking credit for are because taxpayers are paying for it. That’s why our taxes go up every year.

I’m calling regarding the proposed cameras to be put up in the City of Tonawanda to catch traffic violations. It says as long as you pay the fine there will be no fines on your license. That implies if you don’t, there will be points on your license. I’m just calling to say, how do they know who’s driving the vehicle?

It doesn’t cost North Tonawanda anything when eight guys are sitting on four garbage trucks at Mid City Plaza. It’s called taking your hour lunch.

It’s Christmas and I have to see a political cartoon in the Tonawanda News that’s offensive and biased. Really, on Christmas day you can’t keep your slanted opinions to yourself? Merry Christmas to you, Tonawanda News.
