Republicans voted this bill down in the House and Senate. In 1965, Lyndon B. Johnson introduced Medicare. Congress and the Senate were controlled by the Democrats and it passed. Republicans voted this bill down in the House and Senate. In 2009 Barack Obama introduced a bill called the Affordable Health Care Act or “Obamacare.” The Republicans voted against it.
