Tonawanda News — Perhaps new blood is needed for Winter Walk. From both cities. When I donate to other organizations, I check their IRS reports. Where do they have such reports on Winter Walk? Are they part of Canal Fest? Do both merchant groups report for their own side?

In this day and age when God is not permitted into much of our lives I often wonder why atheists take such pleasure in denying us faithful the joy of celebrating our God. Christians seem to take the brunt of their ire. I’ve never heard anybody insist that a Menorah be referred to as a holiday candle holder. Whether you are or you’re not a Christian, or you simply have no beliefs in God, Christmas is still Christmas and that means it’s a Christmas tree. I’ve also wondered how many “atheists” pray to God when in dire need of help, eg. they or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer.

It may be of interest to note that the aforementioned “killer” in China didn’t actually kill anyone on that same Friday in December. The main reason being that China does not allow individuals to own guns. Therefore, it was a mass knifing rather than a mass killing, since no children actually died in the attack. That being said, there have been other fatal knife attacks in China due to the lack of access to guns. They, too, are gruesome and traumatizing. The story of Dunblane might be worthy to study when comparing apples to apples.

To the person posting the sound off: “What ever happened to the NT pizza man convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud? It was reported in 2011 but never followed up with any punishment. Did he just get off with nothing after ripping off his clients?”

In answer to the person who sounded off about the fact that guns don’t kill people, citing as evidence the Chinese attack on 22 schoolchildren with a knife, please note: none of those children died. Do you doubt for one moment that, if this deranged individual were able to obtain an assault rifle, any of the children would still be living? Of course, guns kill people! That is their purpose! I am a retired teacher, and I view with horror the idea that teachers and principals should be armed. If some crazy person started shooting, do you really think turning a school into the shoot out at the OK Corral would be a logical and safe solution of the problem? There were armed security guards at Columbine. That did not stop the killers. Sensible gun control is the only logical answer, along with better mental health treatment. Outlaw assault weapons and multiple clips, and close the gun show loophole. I pray that Congress takes action. Sportsmen and people who need guns for protection need not fear.
