The Tonawanda News

— I see that our president has time to visit The View with all those girly women, and David Letterman, who makes excuses for Obama, but he doesn’t have time to meet with the prime minister of Israel, an important Middle East ally of ours. And he can’t find time to go on with David Gregory’s show? He doesn’t want to be asked any questions about the economy or the Middle East. He hasn’t had a press conference in three years because these questions would come up.

I have to agree with the person who wrote about the Tonawanda football Warriors. It is absolutely ridiculous that you watch the same 12 kids play everything — kickoff, return, punt and both sides of the ball.

Let me see if I heard this right on the radio. A food truck operating on private property was thrown out of Amherst for lack of proper permits. I wonder if the same goes for garage sales, lemonade stands, chicken barbecues at churches, fire halls and schools? And if there is no law, how can they enforce a law? I would have told them “no, I’m not leaving.”

Under Obamacare a family of five would pay $900 a month for so-called free health care. If you can’t afford that, you will be fined $1,200. Obamacare is fashioned after Romneycare, so there really is not difference between the two candidates. You really need to research a third candidate if you want affordable health care.

I am a retired Army officer. Here is a clarification of who is a Vietnam veteran or not. All American forces left Vietnam March 28, 1973 with the ceasefire. On May 7, 1975, President Ford declared the Vietnam era over when a small contingent that assisted closing the U.S. embassy when Saigon fell. Certain VA educational benefits had an expiration date of Oct. 15, 1976. This clarifies once and for all who was an imposter or not.

The housing authority in Tonawanda is slowly filling up after the renovations. Residents should know there is a two-hour parking limit in front of these apartments. It is clearly posted. There are cars parked there all day. Hinds Street is a busy street with school buses, NFTA buses and school traffic. I wish the police would ticket these vehicles. Also, there are a lot of children running in and out between these vehicles.

I’m reading the article about the DMV drivers banning their licenses for life. It’s just a piece of paper. If they’re drinking they’re going to drive. Nothing is going to stop them from getting behind the wheel. You’re going to have to enforce some pretty harsh rules if you’re going to deter people.

I’m calling to thank the City of Tonawanda public worker who came by and put dirt and grass seed down. I had a heavy garbage pick up and they dug up some of the grass. Also thanks to those gentlemen. They were very nice. Sorry I didn’t get your name, but thank you City of Tonawanda public workers.
