Tonawanda News — Bob Confer writes the family should take care of grandma and grandpa. That might have worked when General Motors was the largest employer in America. Walmart is not the largest employer and New York state pays for their employees’ children’s health care. Meanwhile, Sam Walton’s children are the seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th richest in the country.

I wish people would stop talking about this terrible tragedy in Connecticut. It’s enough. You’re only giving some other nutcase out there the idea if I kill some people I’ll be remembered for the rest of our lives. Knock it off. Let us move on with our lives and let those people in Connecticut get on with their lives. It’s enough. If there’s something important, write about it. But stop. It’s enough.

Did anyone receive a gift certificate from Time Warner Cable? I have been trying to get the gift certificate and I get the runaround. Is this a scam or are there too many problems to collect it?

I just read the paper Dec. 19. It’s about time the City of Tonawanda council did something about the money being spent on the different trips and whatnot. It’ll save the taxpayers a little bit. Also, Mayor Pilozzi doesn’t need a full-time assistant with full benefits. We only have 13,500 people. When we had 23,000, the mayor was part-time, but back then everybody did their work the way they should have. It just isn’t right for all the city employees to get all the benefits and all that money. They should take it easy on the taxpayer.

I hope all you gun lovers out there are really happy with the way things are going in view of all the assaults and shootings that are taking place.
