Sound Off published July 25

The Tonawanda News

Tonawanda News — To the person that wrote into Sound Off published July 8 complaining of the dog poop at Niawanda Park: It’s not dog poop it’s goose poop and duck poop. I don’t think geese or ducks cary poop bags. The people walking their dogs clean up their animal’s poop. I have seen them. Living in an apartment with a dog I enjoy walking in parks and worry that people complaining without the facts will cause laws preventing us from doing so.

Can the city mow the weeds in Buffalo Bolt Commerce Park? They insult Oliver Street with their annual photo op “clean up the street” days but don’t take care of their own property so it is presentable. And when will they make the weed patches in the Manhattan Street parking lot look welcoming to those who park there. Such an embarrassment for Canal Fest visitors to see. You’d think they’d at least get it done in an election year.

I remembered a cute story about Canal Fest last night. It was the late 1980s and while at work, a breaking news story came over the radio. People were calling the Tonawanda and NT police departments to report a UFO sighting over the downtown area. The radio station picked up on the story and sent their traffic helicopter out to see what it was. Of course they didn’t find anything. That evening, as my mother and I were walking over the Renaissance Bridge, I glanced up and saw something in the sky at a distance. As it slowly came closer, I announced that it must be the UFO. As we watched, it became clear that it was a hamburger-shaped hot air balloon with a Burger King ad on it!

Here we have Eric Holder on stand your ground, let’s see him run away from a bullet, let’s see him get pummeled by somebody and walk the other way.

Trillions? How about the $17 trillion in debt with nothing to show for it and these people still want to keep Obama in office.

I see Judge Kloch is doing “his thing” of being a legislator instead of a judge on the SPCA and Niagara Falls animal control contract. No doubt, based upon the makeup of the new politicized SPCA board they are trying to put the screws to Niagara Falls. I wish Judge Kloch was as judicious when allowing questionable evidence when ruling on the Drake trial.  Maybe we wouldn’t be paying for another retrial at taxpayers’ expense.

Congratulations to Alex Farrell on winning the Canal Fest run.

The organization of Meals on Wheels doesn’t want to apply to be free meals for seniors or disabled people like in Erie County. It insists that patrons pay for their Meals on Wheels, yet they can fund a hot dog eating contest.

You’re not in a recession, you’re not in a depression. This country just sold the government to China. You did a bad thing to the American people.
