Tonawanda News — I would like to know why the city is always talking about saving money and do the opposite. The North Tonawanda Department of Public Works has a chance to save the city almost $1 million dollars, but nobody seems to care about that. Also I hear there are consultants that can come in and save almost $1 million dollars by looking at new ways to save on health insurance but once again don’t want to. I don’t know why they always try to keep it hush hush, but the taxpayers of North Tonawanda should be aware of this. But I guess when Republicans are in control they only see it their way and remember election time, people will be made aware of just a couple of these issues. They have to get past people’s last names or their race and do what’s best for the city not what’s best for their little Republican Party.
Did you guys actually think that overnight parking would pass in the city? It never will as long as Carl Zeisz is council president. Look around, nothing significant has happened since he has been president. You have had Democrats for years trying to move forward and if he doesn’t like it, he blocks it from happening. When will Gayle Syposs wake up and realize Zeisz is doing more harm then good to this city?
To the caller who says if the city passes overnight parking we will end up like Buffalo: get a clue. We are not like Buffalo. Start finding ways of moving our city forward. Explain to me how North Tonawanda, Kenmore, Town of Tonawanda, and every single surrounding area can have overnight parking but heaven forbid the City of Tonawanda tries something new.
I read a letter in another regional newspaper where the writer complained that the last thing Buffalo needs is another “drinking joint.” That goes for NT also. The writer commented that a new generation of alcoholics is emerging. He said that Buffalo is shedding its title of “Queen City” for a new one, “Saloon City.” That also goes for NT. When will we get some family restaurants that more of us who live here can afford?
