Tonawanda News — I don’t care who this woman is that’s running for mayor of North Tondawnda, but I am voting for her. I am a Republican and I am going to switch over to Democrat to vote for her just to get (the mayor) out.

I read in the Tonawanda News that the NT DPW is finally going to pave Ward Road between Ruie and Warner. Hopefully they will use proper methods that can withstand the weight and volume of all the illegal trucks running down this road. Last time the DPW did any kind of road maintenance the trucks pounded the new asphalt back down into the potholes and failing sub-base within a couple of hours of being placed. This was due to not being placed to the required thickness or properly compacted for the weight and volume of vehicles (trucks) expected on this road. The pavement failed by the end of the week. The pavement failures along the interface between new and old asphalt producing those wonderful washboards in front of everyone’s home. Ward Road is posted for a five ton weight limit at the intersections of Ruie and Warner/Payne, but to my knowledge, it has never been enforced. The fines alone would be enough to keep this road in excellent condition. A fully loaded 10-wheel dump truck, many of which run down Ward, can weigh in excess of 20 tons.

Speed enforcement is not done enough, It’s not what it used to be. When was the last time you saw a radar officer on the Twin City Highway and City of Tonawanda?

Could the City of Tonawanda animal patrol officer please patrol Niawanda Park by the bandshell area. I see people walking their pets down there and they are not supposed to be allowed during certain hours. Owners haven’t been picking up after their dogs, and I see it happening more and more.
