The Tonawanda News
Tonawanda News — I was wondering what all this fuss is about putting a red light at the corner of Ruie and Ward. They took the light down, and I think that’s wonderful. There’s hardly any traffic there. There isn’t any reason why people can’t stop, look around and turn. I think they should get rid of half of the lights in the city of North Tonawanda. They don’t need all these traffic lights. People aren’t that stupid. Just look around. When there’s no traffic coming, turn or go straight.
This is for Mr. Bloomberg. You can waste millions of dollars on ads against anti-gun-ad campaigns. Why don’t you put your money to good use instead of wasting it on a losing battle? Why don’t you donate that money to Oklahoma and places like that and Texas for all the disasters that have happened now and your own town — New York City, where Sandy hit. You can waste all that money on commercials and ads to take away our rights, but why don’t you put the money to real good use and fix up your town?
I just wanted to let the City of Tonawanda people know that I live down on Terran Drive over here and I see they just raised our school taxes. And I noticed a paint truck from the City of Tonawanda with two young gentlemen inside of it driving around past my house exactly five times at 10:10 till about 11:15, that’s all they did was drive by my house. What a waste of money, huh? People that are supposed to be getting paid and they’re driving around. On top of it, they use gas that costs us $4 per gallon. Have a nice day, City of Tonawanda DPW. It’s really great to have you on our side over here. You’re doing a really great job for us -- nothing.
I think some of these people in Oklahoma kind of misplace their priorities. It seems like a lot of them pay someone like 20 grand to dig a big hole in their yard and build an in-ground pool. Well, you know, if you live in tornado alley maybe you should spend about $5,000 and have someone dig a hole and put in a bunker so you can have a place for you and your family to go in case of such things.
I’m calling about the new pavilion down at Niawanda Park in the City of Tonawanda. If anyone rents that, I don’t know how they’re going to solve this problem. I had some friends that rented it this past weekend for a graduation party and people kept coming in, even though it’s posted, “No public restrooms, private party.” We put our own signs up. And people were still coming in to use the bathroom and wanted to eat -- wanted to eat the food that we had there. And I just don’t know how this problem is going to be solved, but I can see that it’s going to be an ongoing problem that needs to be dealt with very soon. People pay a lot of money, especially nonresidents, to rent that pavilion, and it’s just not going to go over well.
