Tonawanda News — Listen up voters in Niagara Wheatfield School District. Just seen in the paper that the board is looking for a 4.8 percent tax raise now with the 5.85 percent the state gave them. What’s up with this picture? Are these board members nuts? That’s 10.65 percent raise. Let’s get real and vote this and all the budgets down. Cut where cuts are needed and let teachers pay their own medical insurance and not the district. Vote it down May 20.

I attended the meeting held by city Aldermen Hall and Koch. It was nice to see such laid back and relaxed conversations. I would like to thank Alderman Koch for organizing this. I was impressed with the turnout and the discussions.

The caller who suggested that Mayor Davis halted red light cameras is incorrect. The mayor was interviewed by the Tonawanda News and he supported the cameras. Mayor Davis also said that decision was not his to make. The council deserve the recognition. They exposed the company for what they were really worth.

At 6 a.m. yesterday morning, I was driving 30 mph down Main Street in the City of Tonawanda and in front of the library I was passed on the right by a very ignorant driver coming from the Town of Tonawanda. He wanted to go 40, so I guess I was going to slow but the ironic thing is we both met at the red light at Seymour. Where are the cops who are usually looking for speeders?

Our Niagara County politicians okay’d a tax exemption for Yahoo a couple years ago. Totally tax exempt. Meanwhile, they just paid their CEO $58 million for leaving the company after only 15 months. And they can’t pay Niagara County taxes. Vote them all out.

North Tonawanda wants to raise our school taxes again. They are claiming they have to lay off half a dozen teachers in the last newspaper article. What the article did not say is that they are hiring another half a dozen teachers for the Pre-K over at Grant School and a bunch of aides which is not mandatory. So they are laying off some and hiring others. We’re not ahead at all.

It’s been over a month now. When will the DPW get around to draining the ditch on Burch Drive and Raymond at the end there. Looking don’t get the job done. Get er done.

What is going on with the Meadow Drive extension? Nothing has been touched in over three or four months. Are they waiting for more snow?

For Flight 370, all the debris would already be on the west coast of Australia. It’s probably already there. Everything from Japan ended up in Northern California. The ocean current takes it right there. The whole coastline’s gotta be covered with debris.
