Tonawanda News — OK ex-mayor Larry Soos, where did you hide the pothole killer? Mayor Ortt can’t find it. You should really help him out.

All local nonprofit organizations are always in need of volunteers. Does Bob Confer give his employees bonuses for volunteering? Does he give them time off with pay to volunteer? Perhaps he could do as some employers do and give matching donations to organizations his employees volunteer with? Some employers even give an annual donation to a charity at which one of their employees serves on the Board of Directors.

I am a City of Tonawanda resident and I would like to know what the city is going to do about households that do not put out recycling? I have never seen my neighbor’s recycling out in 23 years. I’m sure the city doesn’t care.

Get ready Wheatfield school taxpayers. They are already crying they can’t make the budget. Well that’s life. I couldn’t pay my bills, what do they do shut off my services? Time to take back the schools and reduce teachers’ salaries and charge parents for the kids that want to play sports. If you played travel sports what do they do for the players? They charge the parents, so why can’t we do that at the schools? Time to reopen the teachers’ benefits packages and see what gets paid for by the district. Let’s cut the budget down in May and let’s stick together or we will be all broke sooner or later.

I saw on the news about the girls who were abducted in Nigeria. Why is it the United States’ job to rescue or find these girls? Isn’t it the United Nations’ job? Why is it always the United States using taxpayer money to help other countries when they don’t do anything for us? We are tired of spending our tax dollars and having to pay such ridiculous taxes for countries that do not like us and hate us and we’re tired of it. We need you to spend our money on better things like our roads and bridges.

I am not shocked that this council didn’t vote on Canal Fest. You have a council president who wants the fest to disappear. Talk to the people who enjoy the festival. I take my kids there. There’s never any problems. Bring it back to 11 p.m.
