Tonawanda News — It is not the parks and rec department that fixes the fields for high school softball, it is the school district grounds crew. It is their field and they are to maintain it. These are the same people that do not cut grass at the schools until it is 3-feet high. The parks and rec department is responsible for the fields only for the girl’s summer softball when the city rents the fields from the school district.

I see what the previous caller said about the Meadow Drive extension being narrow. I guess when they bulldoze the woods and build up that area, they will tear up the street and make it wider to accommodate the traffic. What a waste of money!

Canal Fest is a 501 c 3 charity and should make its financial statements available to all on request. They provide their member organizations with information on what they charge the approved vendors as participation fees, a part of their profits. Except for the larger organizations who have been with Canal Fest from the beginning, the others don’t make much at all for how many hours they have to put in. They should show these numbers so the taxpayers on both sides of the Canal know which nonprofits really benefit.

In regards to the Canel Fest, how about if the City of Tonawanda tell this Canal Fest Committee to stick it and move it all over to North Tonawanda … Problem solved.
