Tonawanda News — Nice to see Tonawanda Councilwomen Koch and Smilinich supported overnight parking. I have lived in city for 50 years and they are the most approachable elected officials we have had. They respond to our wants and needs. Disappointed that the others are obstructionists.

Amazing. Planning for residential and commercial development on Tonawanda Island. It is so polluted from decades of lumber operations and no amount of containment will keep it from continuing to leak or eventually leaking into the river and escaping the containments. Living on top of it would be like living on top of the remains of Durez, Tonawanda Iron, Buffalo Bolt, etc. Where do you think the high rates of MS and cancers of all types in NT came from?

City Councilman Gilbert voted against the Canal Fest and overnight parking. It’s the council president’s way or no way. They are the two officials that will block any progress from happening.

Linwood Avenue, between Oliver and Payne, is a minefield of pot holes. It appears that a homeowner got tired of waiting for the city to patch some and took matters into their own hands by filling some of them with concrete. I hope this street is on the list to be repaved.

The potholes are ridiculous all around North Tonawanda, and they’ve paved like one street and that’s Payne Avenue. It’s now already June and nothing is being done about any other street. Really, NT?  What is going on?

The obstructionists in the city are evident. Look at how our elected officials voted. It’s also time that Council President Zeisz retired. He has done more harm than good for us. Better yet, resign before your term is up and take Councilman Gilbert with you.

It seems as though decisions are not made by elected officials, but by the chief of police. Someone tell me why we need a council in the city?
