Tonawanda News — To the person complaining about President Obama going to the memorial for the fertilizer plant explosion in Texas, I think this person is off their rocker, complaining about it and saying he should send a representative. I think it’s nice of Obama to be going. He’s the president. He’s representing the United States. I don’t know what this person is complaining about. He’s the president, not a representative. He’s doing what he’s supposed to be doing: representing the United States.

This is Jo-Jo the cat, used to be from Remington Drive. Since I left in March you haven’t gotten the message. So will you please walk around to half the city and take down the hundreds of signs? Bye. Meow.

I’m calling to ask if they could put back the signal at Ward Road and Ruie Road. There’s a lot of traffic on Ward Road and they never let the people on Ruie get through. Can they please put the signal back? It’s a very busy intersection.

This is for the person who wrote into “Sound Off” asking why if the Tonawanda school board has an extra $1 million, why can’t they put that to use instead of raising taxes? How sad to believe that could happen. Don’t you know that a lot of these school board members need new pools? And what about that trip to the Bahamas?

This is for the editor, maybe he might want to put an article out. You know how it’s been going on about Tonawanda Coke and all this stuff that they’ve been dumping into the air, but what about all the stuff that they’ve been putting on the ground that’s been reaching into the upper Niagara River? Now that water flows downhill to Niagara Falls, well it goes by North Tonawanda here and our plant picks up that water, we drink that water. And what about all of the chemicals that have been reached into the river and have been going into all our water that we’re drinking? Now, has it been proven or has anyone tested it for any effects in the water that we’ve been drinking? I doubt it because no one’s ever said anything and it’s something that can be looked into because it goes down to Lake Ontario next and everybody else. So, this is something you thought about for cases later on. It’s possible it could be harming to other people besides people just in that area.
