Tonawanda News — Does anybody know if anything will happen to the former Durez plastic chemical site on Walck Road? The eyesore sits there with a barbed wire fence for nearly 15 years. The road is almost always in shambles regardless if they repave it or not, and it's just a giant brownfield. The DEC states it's supposed to be returned to a wetland, eventually. I find that a little useless, actually. If you're not going to build any new neighborhoods with that land, for that large of a piece of property in our small city, why not put some walking/biking paths in this new "wetland" and get some public use out of it? It's close to a good 70 acres of land.

Why does North Tonawanda allow some yards to become junkyards while some people try to keep their yards looking respectable? Is there not a code in place for this nonsense? Some houses look in shambles along with all kinds of junk in the yards.

To the person who wants police to hand out tickets at Mid City plaza: The parking lot at Mid City plaza is private property and the police do not have the authority to issue citations. The signs are merely rules or suggestions by the owners.

This is a reminder to all residents of the Tonawandas to lock their doors. I live just outside of Wurlitzer Park and two homes in my neighborhood were robbed over the weekend while the residents were sleeping. They woke up to the intruder in their home. Please lock your doors before someone gets hurt.

The way they're delaying Syria, are they waiting for 9/11 to do it or what?

I read a good article about Syria and the chemical weapons, throwing Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld in there. But no one seems to mention how much money they made off the Iraq war. Cheney and Halliburton, politicians have stock in arms companies. And that's why politicians like war.
