Tonawanda News — I have to agree with two prior comments in Sound Off regarding long hair on NFL players. First, you can’t even read these guys names! Second, numerous studies have shown that long hair is a leading contributor in causing concussions in these players. They certainly can’t get a properly fitted helmet with hair like that. Third, these players are role models for our youngsters because they make millions of dollars playing football. If they can’t lead by example, who is going to? Parents?

For the check engine light writer. Obama just recently signed legislation raising the amount of ethanol added to gasoline. This has nothing to do with Bush/Cheney. It is strictly a Democrat tree hugger idea.

Someone called in about football players hair. I don’t think think they are “thugs” but I don’t think they are good role models for kids. And I don’t see why they league lets them have their hair that long. As for the 50-year-old man with long hair, we used to call them “hippies.” Were they role models? Or the band KISS, fine role models?

The Meadow Drive extension has been hanging around since 2007 and the $2 million price is probably way out of budget from what it was back then. Now we should ask, since the city claims they wanted it open before Walmart opened to alleviate traffic, how much additional traffic is this Walmart generating? Is it worth the taxpayers paying a large sum for a street that isn’t really needed? Maybe CSX stalling the project would give the politicians a chance to really determine if it is money well spent.

Thanks to the Tonawanda Rec and Parks Dept. for the tree planting I see going on around City of Tonawanda.

I would like to say that they better do something quick about the NHL and get this over with. It’s ridiculous.
