Tonawanda News — At about 10:30 p.m. (a couple weeks ago) on East Niagara Street near the Gastown area we lost power for two days because of the wind and the rain. Tree limbs were falling on the power lines. It looked like the fourth of July with the lines arcing and ending up on the ground starting small fires. Thanks to the City of Tonawanda first responders and police who arrived to control the area. Oh by the way, where were the elected officials to stop by and see how the families were doing? Thank you.

Friday night when we had our thunderstorm and Saturday morning, it was amazing because (the weather man) looked at the radar and said that cloud over Toronto might come this way but it didn’t have much energy to it. By the time that cloud came over North Tonawanda it seemed like we were getting about 1,000 lightning strikes an hour.

The way I take this stand your ground law in Florida: What if you’re out just walking the streets and you’re harassed by an officer of the law? Is it still going to be self-defense? Think about it, that law has to be a little more detailed for it to really be a fair law.

I just wanted to say the Chinese/America free trade act ruined America. Thank you.

Can any news reporters or journalists answer this question: how many holes can we punch in the Earth, tracking or drilling for oil before the mantle/Earth starts falling apart?

During the Friday night storm, many of us were left without power. As a city of Tondawnda resident, I was impressed by my neighbor, Jenna Cook, who made sure our elderly neighbors were cared for, made sure the rest of us were provided with appropriate phone numbers and contact numbers. In addition she helped us get generators so that we all could continue our quality of life, while the power was being restored. Thank you Jenna Cook for helping us, checking on us and making sure we were OK. Your leadership and compassion is exactly what this city needs.
