Kenmore East upsets Niagara Falls, 6-0

Tonawanda News — Kenmore East scored six runs in the top of fifth, handing Niagara Falls its first loss in Niagara Frontier League play.

Jeff White allowed one hit over seven innings, striking out two for the Bulldogs (8-9 overall, 5-6 NFL).

Niagara Falls is a terrific team, but today my guys played like champions," said Kenmore East coach Les Simon. "We played air-tight defense, showing you how much heart this team has."

The Wolverines came into Monday's game 10-0 in Niagara Frontier League play, but could not get through the Bulldogs defense. 

Kenmore East scored all six runs in the fifth inning. Nick Lobochiaro lead-off with a single. Richard Brinkman followed him, reaching on an error. The Bulldogs followed with 4 more hits from Luke Simmons, Preston Smith, White and Tom Vancuren. 

Smith finished the night with three hits. 

The Bulldogs go on to face Grand Island Wednesday. Niagara Falls will head to North Tonawanda Wednesday.
