Benefit planned for fire victims
A Chinese auction benefit will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Adams Hall, 7133 Nash Road, North Tonawanda.
Proceeds will benefit a the family of Tracy Lauffer of the Town of Tonawanda, who lost their home in a house fire on Feb. 1. Lauffer suffered third- degree burns and her recovery is ongoing. Her daughter, 17, is credited with calling 911 and assisting her mother until help arrived.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased pre-sale or at the door. The event will include food, a Chinese auction and a 50/50 split raffle.

St. Mark’s hosts theme tray auction
The 13th annual theme tray auction hosted by St. Mark's Episcopal Church will take place on Saturday in the church hall, 61 Payne Ave. at Tremont Street, North Tonawanda.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m., drawings begin.
Admission is $4, which includes 25 tickets and dessert.
Hot dogs, pizza, French fries and beverages will be available.

Library plans preschool hour
A spring preschool story hour program for 3- to 5-year-olds will be offered at North Tonawanda Public Library from May 8 to June 13.
Story hour times are 10 to 10:45 a.m. or 11:15 a.m. to noon Thursdays or Fridays.
Registration for residents of North Tonawanda, Wheatfield or Pendleton begins Monday, in person or by phone, 693-4132, ext. 5.

‘Spiderwick Chronicles’ shown at Riviera
The YWCA of the Tonawandas, in partnership with the Riviera Theatre, will present “The Spiderwick Chronicles” starring David Straithorn and Mary-Louise Parker at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. SaturdayApril 26.
Rated PG, the film is about a family who moves into a dilapidated old house haunted by goblins, hobgoblins and monsters.
Tickets are $2. For a chance to win a movie poster, buy a $1 raffle ticket or bring in a non-perishable food item for the YWCA food pantry.

Event celebrates camp’s 85th year
Friends of Camp Turner will host an 85th anniversary celebration from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Banchetti by Rizzo, 550 North French Road, Amherst.
Tickets are $35 and include four hours of open bar, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, split club raffles and auctions.

Nature preserve to host flower hike
The Western New York Land Conservancy will host at spring wildflower hike with Mary Alice Tock, past president of the Niagara Frontier Botanical Society, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The walk is through the 131-acre Kenneglenn Nature Preserve in the Town of Wales. Identify plants, trees and wildlife signs and explore the early spring forest along the Hunters Creek gorge.

Lions Club plans garage sale
The Amherst Lions Club will have a garage sale from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday inside Trinity United Methodist Church at 711 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst.
Proceeds will support merit awards for two Sweet Home High School students chosen by the service organization for their own outstanding community service.
