American Girl’s Club plans picnic lunch
American Girl’s Club members will take part in a picnic lunch from noon to 1:15 p.m. July 24 at the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Drive.
The lunch will be outside, weather permitting, in the back of the library. Bring your lunch, a blanket to sit on and your American Girl doll or another doll, or something special to share with the group.
Registration is required in person or by phone, 693-4132.
Open to children who live in North Tonawanda, Pendleton or Wheatfield.
Carnegie hosts grant seminar tonight
The Carnegie Art Center will host a seminar at 6 tonight for the 2009 Arts Niagara Decentralization grant for not-for-profit groups.
The seminar will take place at the center, 240 Goundry St., North Tonawanda with the focus on this year’s grant guidelines and application.
The grant program is designed to expand, nurture, and promote quality arts and cultural programming for Niagara County and is partly funded by the state Council on the Arts.
The competitive arts grant provides financial and technical assistance for community-based arts activities and range from $300 to $5,000

Coffee house presents gospel music
Good News Coffee House will present gospel music and an open mic from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the community room at Summit Mall in Wheatfield.
The event is hosted by Reverend Jake and Margie Keuning and Ken Robins.
Benefit set for lyme disease victim
A benefit for Amber Poler, 25, will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Ridgeway Firehall on Ridge Road, Medina.
The event includes a spaghetti dinner, Chinese, silent and baked goods auctions, a magic show, music and Miguel from Kiss 98.5 FM.
Pohler’s medical problems the past eight years were recently diagnosed as lyme disease through a DNA test.
Her medical bills have mounted to more than $25,000. Medicaid has denied payment for the tests she needs to determine the extent of damage of lyme disease and she is hoping to be able to go to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Min.
Pulaski Day parade scheduled Sunday
The Pulaski Day parade will start at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Thruway Plaza and continue to Cheektowaga Town Park.
Erie County Judge Michael Pietruszka will be grand marshal.

Discovery day camp set at Amherst Museum
Amherst Museum will present its discovery day camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through July 25.
Children ages 8 to 12 will explore theater, amusement parks, radio, the circus and 19th and early 20th century forms of entertainment.
Tuition is $125 with members and multiple children from the same family receiving a discount.
