NORTH TONAWANDA

First Ward meeting to discuss issues

A meeting to discuss issues and concerns of the First Ward will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. July 31 at Caesar’s Palace, 712 Oliver St., North Tonawanda.

The meeting is hosted by First Ward alderman Dennis M. Pasiak.

James Sullivan, director of the community development office and executive director of the Lumber City Development Corporation will be guest speaker.

All are welcome.



St. Matthew school hosts golf outing

St. Matthew Lutheran School in North Tonawanda will host its first golf outing on Aug. 18 at Tan Tara Golf Club.

The outing includes a lunch before the 1 p.m. shotgun start, 18 holes of golf, golf cart and dinner following golf.

The cost is $95 per golfer. Dinner only tickets are $25.

Senior center plans day trip

A day trip which includes a two-hour boat cruise, buffet luncheon and round trip transportation by school bus has been scheduled on Aug. 20 by the North Tonawanda Senior Center, 110 Goundry St.

The cost is $30, plus $7 for transportation.

TONAWANDA

Dinner, program hosted at senior center

Tonawanda Seniors will meet at Monday at the City of Tonawanda Senior Citizen Center on Main Street.

Bingo will be played at 4 p.m. followed by dinner and at 6:15 p.m., a business meeting conducted by Jo Ann Bailey, president.

Dinner tickets are $6 and reservations are required by Friday.

Randy and his talented dog, “Cicco Kid,” will entertain after the meeting.

The center will host a clothing and jewelry sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 13. Donations may be dropped off at the center.



AREA

Blueberry picking helps Conservancy

The Western New York Land Conservancy will host a U-pick Blueberry fundraiser at Jim and Toni Cudney’s family farm, 5991 Scherff Road, Orchard Park on Saturday.

Pick blueberries from 1 to 4 p.m. in your own containers. All proceeds donated to the Western New York Land Conservancy.

The conservancy is a not-for-profit land trust that protects more than 4,000 acres of land including scenic vistas, forested lands, wetlands, fragile natural ecosystems, lakefront shorelines and working farms across the eight counties of Western New York.
