Worship on Water set at Long Homestead
Worship on the Water, a weekly joint ministry of local congregations will continue with an interdenominational service at 8:45 a.m. Sunday at the Long Homestead on East Niagara Street, City of Tonawanda.
The service lasts 30-40 minutes followed by a coffee fellowship time.
Those attending should bring their own lawn chair.
All are welcome including boaters, bicyclists and dog walkers.

AARP picnic scheduled at VFW post
AARP Chapter 4574 will host its annual picnic at noon Aug. 28 at the VFW post on Elgin Street, City of Tonawanda.
Reservations must be made by Monday. The event is catered by Mr. and Mrs. Catering.

Garden party marks opening of studio
A grand opening garden party will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Gleam & Glimmer Stained Glass Studio, 207 Vandervoort St., North Tonawanda.
The new studio, across from the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum on Thompson Street, features finished widow panels, lamps, custom and repair work, supplies for crafters and classes.

Rummage sale benefits Elks’ member
Elks Lodge 860 will host a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the lodge parking lot at Sweeney and Main streets, North Tonawanda.
Proceeds will help defray the cancer treatment cost of one of lodge members.

Olympics will be the fun topic for children in kindergarten to second-grade at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brighton Place, 999 Brighton Road, Town of Tonawanda.

Summit Mall setting for modeling auditions
Modeling auditions for boys and girls ages 5 to 18 will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Summit Mall, 6929 Williams Road, Wheatfield.
No experience necessary. Judges include Susan Makai, owner of Personal Best Inc.
The fashion show will take place at 1 p.m. Sept. 6 at the mall and will feature fall styles from mall stores.

Dramatics program offered for youth
Picasso People, a theatrical production company in Lancaster, has launched a program of creative dramatics for area youth.
Carlton and Deanna Van Pyrz will offer classes for children ages 4 to 12 on Saturday mornings at Maryvale Community Center in Cheektowaga and Tuesday evenings at Harlem Road Community Center in Wiliamsville.

Peach recipes sought for festival
Applicants are sought for a peach recipe contest to run in conjunction with the Lewiston Kiwanis Peach Festival on Sept. 5.
Original peach recipes in cake and pie and all other desserts categories may be sent to Peach Festival Taste-Off, 310 Niagara St., Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
Deadline is Tuesday.
Ten finalists will be selected to compete in a Taste-Off. The winner will receive a $100 U.S. Savings Bond. Other prizes will be awarded to the top entries.
Young Rosarians seeks members
The American Rose Society is launching a campaign to sign up youth for the society.
The initiative will allow anyone under age 17 to join the society for $10. Benefits include an e-newsletter which includes information about roses and how to grow them.

Dine Out for a Cure scheduled
Restaurant owners are sought to join the fourth annual Dine Out for a Cure on Oct. 21.
Participating restaurants are asked to donate either a percentage of all meals’ sales or a portion of sales from a special “Pink Menu” on that day to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
