‘Only Humen’ performs at canal concert

Only Humen will perform at 7 p.m. Friday as part of the Concerts on the Canal Series on Young Street in the City of Tonawanda.

The concert if free and open to the public.



AREA

EC offers hunting, fishing licenses

Hunting and fishing licenses will be sold from 9 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. weekdays in the Erie County pistol permit department, first floor, 92 Franklin St., Buffalo.

Applicants need proof of identification, residency and age when applying. For a hunting or bow license, applicants must have a hunter’s certificate or valid previous hunting license. Junior hunter and archery licenses will also be available for those age 12 to 18.

Amherst Symphony plans free concert

A free outdoor concert by the Amherst Symphony is scheduled Friday at the Amherst Museum, 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road.

Doors open at 5:30 followed at 6:30 p.m. by the concert.

Light refreshments will be available for purchase. Donations will be accepted and will benefit the orchestra and museum.



Geology hike offered at nature preserve

The Western New York Land Conservancy has scheduled a free geology hike from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kenneglenn Scenic and Nature Preserve in the Town of Wales.

The hike, featuring views of the gorge walls and waterfall will be lead by Stan Radon. Be prepared to walk in the creek with shoes that have great traction.

Radon, has been a geologist with the state Department of Environmental Conservation for 18 years and teaches geology and environmental studies at the University at Buffalo, Buffalo State College and Daemen College.

Hand-wovern belt workshop set

A hand-woven belt workshop is the focus of an event sponsored by Heartwood Wilderness in East Aurora from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

The finger weaving technique results in a strong, beautiful jute belt or sash.

The cost is $20, $10 for youth.

Vendors and performers are sought for the Christmas Fair at the Broadway Market which will take place Nov. 28 and 29.
