Legion auxiliary plans meeting

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 264 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the post, Main and Broad streets, City of Tonawanda.

Gilda Ryan and Marcia Kramer will host the meeting.



NORTH TONAWANDA

K of C auxiliary to install officers

The Ladies Auxiliary of the North Tonawanda Knights of Columbus No. 2535 will meet at 6 p.m. Monday for a dinner at Pane’s Restaurant, North Tonawanda.

New officers for the coming year will be installed by Reverend James Hassett. The new officers are: Joan Messana, president; Marion Brodfuehrer, vice president; Susan Hempel, secretary, and Mary Hempel, treasurer.



KEN-TON

Ellwood volunteers start collection drive

Ellwood Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 will begin its door to door collections on Monday, concluding on Sept. 19.

Company members will visit residences and businesses that have not mailed in their donations.



Bereavement group to meet weekly

St. Andrew’s Bereavement Team will sponsor a grief support group meeting at 6:45 p.m. every Monday through Oct. 20 starting Monday.

The meeting is in the rectory of St. Andrew’s Church, 1525 Sheridan Drive, Kenmore.



AREA

Chorus seeks new members

Cheektowaga Community Chorus invites new members to weekly rehearsals from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Mondays beginning Monday.

The chorus, directed by Andrea Shurtlifffe, meets in the choral room at Cheektowaga Central High School, 3600 Union Road.



Empower yourself topic of wellness center

“How to Empower Yourself” is the topic of a free program from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday sponsored by the Cancer Wellness Center.

The program on spirituality and healing will take place in the alumni lounge at Daemen College Wick Center, 4380 Main St., Amherst.

To register, call the center at 694-1395.



Everywoman center offers classes

If you are divorced, widowed, spouse disabled or unemployed, the free “Get Ready, Get Set, Get a Job” course may be for you.

The classes, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 15 to 19. are sponsored by Everywoman Opportunity Center Inc., 899 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst.

Topics include self esteem, stress management, identifying your abilities and skills, resumes and ways to job search.
