TONAWANDA

Trick or treating hours scheduled

Trick-or-treating will take place in the City of Tonawanda from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Halloween.

Having costumed children out after dark can be a dangerous proposition, making it important that citizens take the necessary precautions.

Making sure flashlights are working properly, pre-plan the route and making sure to cross only at corners can be the difference between a great and a disastrous holiday, the mayor said.



Spaghetti dinner set at Masonic Temple

An all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Tonawanda Masonic Hall, 190 Minerva St., City of Tonawanda.

Tickets for the dinner, hosted by Ken-Ton Masonic Lodge 1186, are $6, $3 for children.

Dinner includes salad bar, spaghetti and meatballs, Italian bread, beverage and dessert.



NORTH TONAWANDA

Eagles schedule fish fry

A fish fry is scheduled from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 7269 Ward Road, North Tonawanda.

Tickets are $8.50, which includes dessert and coffee. From 7 to 10 p.m., live music will be featured.

Live Hose schedules meat raffle

A meat raffle will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at Live Hose Volunteer Fire Company, 71 Vandervoort St., North Tonawanda.

Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.

A grand prize drawing for 10 turkeys will be featured with tickets available from members or at the event.



UM church offers fish fry

Pendleton Center United Methodist Church will host a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church, 6864 Campbell Blvd., North Tonawanda.

Children’s dinners, as well as shrimp or chicken tender dinners, are also offered.

Senior center hosts attorney for elderly

Gary Billingsley, attorney for the elderly, will visit from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the North Tonawanda Senior Center, 110 Goundry St.

Widows, widowers group to meet

New Beginnings, a group for widows and widowers, will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday in Father Cotter Hall at Blessed Sacrament church, 263 Claremont Ave., Town of Tonawanda.

Miller poster sale benefits Roswell Park

Shoppers can purchase an exclusive, limited-edition Ryan Miller poster at Wilson Farms locations.

The posters are $10 each with all proceeds donated to Miller’s charity, The Steadfast Foundation, which benefits Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Carly’s Club.



Halloween fest helps Salvation Army

A Halloween festival to benefit the Salvation Army will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. today and Friday at Hall Apple Farm, 6100 Ruhlmann Road, Lockport.

A monetary or a canned food donation is asked as admission.



Harvest Festival planned at academy

Amherst Christian Academy will host its annual Harvest Festival from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at 2625 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst.

Games, prizes, hay rides, a movie, and food will be offered. The events are free.



Author is guest speaker for event

Amy Remmele, author and owner of Peak of Success, will be the guest speaker on Nov. 11 for the Buffalo Niagara Chapter of the National Association of Women Business owners.

The event, at Sean Patrick’s Restaurant, 3480 Millersport Highway, Getzville, will begin at 5:30 p.m. with networking.
