Tonawanda News — City of Tonawanda Mayor Rick Davis’ first State of the City address is set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday in city hall.

“The number one thing my State of the City is going to be planning for the future, and putting down the foundation in years one and two that will carry me through the rest of my term and hopefully years beyond that for the city,” Davis said.

Davis said he will focus on the zoning plan and the waterfront revitalization plan. Ensuring that the city has a clear strategy going forward will help gain funding for future projects, the new mayor noted.

“All of those three things need to jive off one another for us to move forward and secure the monies that other municipalities are,” Davis said. “It’s all about having a plan.”

Davis also said that he will discuss the possibility of developing the former Little League site and the potential of Simmers Crane moving into the former Spaulding Fiber site.

“We want to keep working with our friend in the county and make sure that Spaulding is at the top of the list when developers are looking into moving into the area,” Davis said.
