Tonawanda News — Youth Services Detective Tim Toth was injured Wednesday morning while attempting to break up a fight at the Tonawanda High School, Lt. Fredric Foels said.
“They thought they had the fight controlled, but it flared up again, and the two teens fell on Toth, “ Foels said. “He was in so much pain, we thought his leg was broken.”
Toth, who was attempting to end the fight with Assistant Principal Larry Badgley, was transported to Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Doctors indicated he likely had damaged his knee. He was discharged from the emergency department and was scheduled to see an orthopedic surgeon for a followup MRI Wednesday evening.
The two teens were arrested after the incident, which took place at 11:40 a.m. The 17-year-old was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree harassment, second-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree obstruction of governmental administration.
The 16-year-old was charged with disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment, Foels said.
