Second fashion show to benefit Riviera

Second 'Fashion Extravaganza' planned at Riviera

(Continued)

Tonawanda News — Back by popular demand, Barber said, is a performance by Chelsea Green of Pole Play Dance Studio, who was a hit at the 2012 event. Last year, Green did a pole dancing routine. This year she will present a burlesque performance.

Green, who has danced and been a gymnast throughout her life, said she was spurred to show off “all sorts of crazy gymnastics” last year after hearing laughter at the start of her act.

“It was fun; I think I surprised a few people,” she said. “I probably challenged them to think a little differently about what I do. People think ‘pole dancing (equals) stripper.’ No, gymnast. It was a lot of fun.

“They had all kinds of just regular people in it. I think that’s what the audience really enjoyed.”

Stores contributing clothing and items to appear in the show include American Harley Davidson (providing, among other things, a full-sized motorcycle), American Skin Art, Generation Next Thrift and Consignment Shop,  The Mulberry Tree, Sherwood Florist, The Twisted Tiki, Martinsville Emporium, Purse Sona, Austin Taylor, Sassy Style Consignment, Custom Beaute, Treasure Market, the Flower Barn, Michele’s Motif and Miss Josie’s Antiques.

Other businesses contributing include Attic to Basement Repeats, The Limousine Service, White Bird Production, Cats Like Us, River Art Gallery, Gleam & Glimmer Stained Glass Studio, Pioneer Printers, Designer Sportswear, Walker Bros & Monroe Jewelers, Partners in Art, Creative Hair Design, Guerrilla Video Solutions, Diva on a Dime, Blast Fitness, Spiritually Rooted and Holler-Grapes Insurance Agency.

Gina Bryant, owner of Austin Taylor on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst, said that her store contributed a “vintage-y” skirt, a short red dress and a military-style jacket to the show.

“It’s something different, something you don’t usually find at the mall,” she said. “I’m excited. I’m looking forward to it.”
