Tonawanda News — The Tonawanda City School District approved a 2 percent wage increase for five administrative positions Tuesday night at its regular board meeting.
The assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, the director of pupil personnel services, the director of school facilities and operations, the personnel specialist and the secretary to the superintendent will receive the raises.
The board approved the increases unanimously.
“It is very difficult to do wage increase when we are so confined,” Board Vice President Jennifer Mysliwy said. “But these employees have stepped up on more than one occasion to defer wage increases. They are very deserving.”
Robert Kirisits, a representative from the district’s busing company, Transpo, also attended Tuesday’s meeting to provide the board with a transportation update.
“The first few days of school presented the typical challenges,” he said. “But now, I think we are out of the woods”
Kirisits said the company has improved communication with parents and has addressed all of the problems.
“We are touching the routes everyday to improve efficiency,” he said.
Transpo is new to Tonawanda this year after winning the $598,760 contract. Last year, Rainbow had the contract for $604,000.
