CITY OF TONAWANDA: Cops probe rape claim

A 21-year-old woman woke up on the pool table at T.C. Wheeler’s bar in the City of Tonawanda with her pants off and unaware of what had happened earlier in the evening.

That’s what police reports say took place inside the Wheeler Street establishment Thursday night.

No charges have been filed yet, and police declined to comment further on what took place because they are actively investigating the incident. However, a report states that the woman went to Kenmore Mercy Hospital, where a rape kit was taken. The woman had bruises on her breasts, the report states.

According to the police report, the woman’s friend picked her up at her house around 11 p.m. and the victim was already heavily intoxicated from drinking 160 proof vodka. She consumed more drinks inside the bar.

The report states that during the night, the victim undid her pants, climbed onto the pool table without wearing any pants and also exposed her breasts.

The report also states that the victim’s pants were kept behind the bar for a time, and that the bartender allowed the incident to take place without intervening.

A manager who answered the phone at T.C. Wheeler’s said Monday evening that what was reported to police was “far-fetched” from what took place and that he did not wish to comment further at this time.
