Fracking documentary to be shown in Town

Tonawanda News — Investigative filmmakers Joshua Pribanic and Melissa Troutman will be screening their documentary on fracking, “Triple Divide,” Tuesday at the Brighton Place Library in Tonawanda.

The film, a production of the nonprofit Public Herald, investigates how state agencies are handling the negative impacts from shale gas industrial development. 

“Narrated with the help from actor Mark Ruffalo, major findings include stark negligence and endangerment of public and environmental health due to shale gas extraction,” a statement announcing the event reads.

The documentary will be screen at 7 p.m. at the library, located at 999 Brighton Place Road in the Town of Tonawanda. Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP by calling 332-4375. 

Filmmakers will be available for a question and answer session after the film. The screening is sponsored by Food and Water Watch, New Yorkers Against Fracking, NYPIRG and Western NY Drilling Defense. 

The film is available to rent at tripledividefilm.org for $3.99 or to purchase for $9.99. The documentary will also be shown in Buffalo on the following dates:

• 7 p.m. on March 13 at Buffalo State College

• 5:30 p.m. on March 20 at Frank E. Merriweather Library, 1324 Jefferson Ave.
