Tonawanda man led police on chase

Tonawanda News — A Tonawanda man is facing a rash of charges after New York State Police say he led them on a wild chase Wednesday evening that began on Interstate-190 and ended at his Braxmar Road home.

According to police, Ronald P. Delo, 55, refused to stop for troopers on the I-190 north for moving violations. He then continued onto the I-290 before exiting on Colvin Boulevard.

Police said that with lights and sirens blaring, Delo eventually stopped at his Braxmar Road home. They said he exhibited “clear signs of intoxication” and was taken into custody about 10 p.m.

Delo was transported to state police headquarters in Buffalo and charged with aggravated DWI, third-degree unlawful fleeing police and multiple vehicle and traffic violations. He also faces felony DWI charged because he has two previous convictions for driving while intoxicated.

Delo submitted to a breathalyzer test and was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.21. He was transported to Buffalo police for booking, later appearing in Erie County Court.
