Tonawanda News — The Ken-Ton School District released a statement Wednesday announcing that Hamilton Elementary Principal Michael Huff will transfer to Hoover Elementary School in July.
The release of the statement comes after parents spoke out against the decision at Tuesday's board meeting.
In the statement, the district said that Huff is replacing Fran Paskowitz, who is retiring as principal of Hoover. The transfer makes sense, in part, because of Ken-Ton's consolidation plan that includes the closing of Hamilton, the district said.
“Mr. Michael Huff has seniority, therefore he will transfer to Hoover to fill the vacancy we will have from Mrs. Paskowitz’s retirement on June 30, 2014,” Superintendent Mark Mondanaro said. “The district has a transitioning plan and we intend to make every effort for this process to be smooth for all — especially for students."
Huff will still help with the transition, Mondanaro said, and the district will fill the two-year vacancy at Hamilton internally.
"We appreciate Mr. Huff’s years of service to the Hamilton community," Mondanaro said.
