Winterfest weekend on tap

Tonawanda News — The Town of Tonawanda is holding its annual Winterfest Weekend event over the next few days. The festival kicked off Thursday with an adult dance at the Town of Tonawanda Senior Center from 7 until 10 p.m.

There are many other events scheduled as part of the fest, which runs through Monday afternoon. 

Here’s the rundown. All activities are at Lincoln Arena, 1200 Parker Blvd., unless otherwise stated. 


• Knee hockey tournament, 5 to 8 p.m.

• Winterfest wine sampling, Town of Tonawanda Senior Center, 7 to 10 p.m.


• Mens’ One pitch adult softball tournament, starting at 10 a.m.

• Thunder select hockey games, 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

• Figure skating show, 3 to 4 p.m.

• Mini-mite hockey games, 4:15 to 6:15 p.m.

• Family fun activities, including hayrides and Buffalo Skating Club’s baked good sale and Chinese auction, Don Kunzleman Pavilion, noon to 4 p.m.

• EXIT performance, Don Kunzleman Pavilion in Lincoln Park, 7 to 9:30 p.m. 

• Fire pit, 6:15 p.m. and fireworks at 6:30 p.m, near Lincoln Arena.

• Free recreational skate, 7 to 9:30 p.m.


• Youth hockey skills competition, 8:45 a.m.

• Girls hockey exhibition game, 10:15 a.m.

• Police and Ellwood Fire Co. exhibition game, 11:30 a.m.

• Co-ed adult outdoor softball game, noon.

• Family fun activities, including hayrides, snowmobile rides and a Chinese auction, 1 to 3 p.m.

• Free family skate, 1 to 3 p.m.

• INJEST comedy show, Don Kunzleman Pavilion, 2 p.m. 

• Ken East vs. Ken West hockey, 3:45 to 5:15 p.m. 

• Recreational skate, 6:30 to 9 p.m.

• Fire, fireworks and concert, featuring Sound Proof, 6:45 to 9:30 p.m.

• Free recreational swim featuring a DJ, Aquatic and Fitness Center, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. 

• Blood drive, Aquatic and Fitness Center, 1 Pool Plaza (Sheridan Drive and Delaware Road), 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

• International Model Boat demonstration, Aquatic and Fitness Center, noon to 4 p.m.


• Senior/Youth Intergenerational Day, Sheridan Parkside Community Center, 169 Sheridan-Parkside Drive, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Town of Tonawanda invitational swim meet, Aquatic and Fitness Center, 1 p.m.

• 3 on 3 hockey tournament, Lincoln and Brighton arenas, 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. 

• Free skate, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
