Crangle arrested after incident with wife

Tonawanda News — TOWN OF TONAWANDA — Councilman Dan Crangle was arrested Saturday following a domestic dispute with his estranged wife, according to police.

Capt. James Stauffiger said Crangle was charged with third-degree stalking and second-degree harassment Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred at about 7 a.m. at a town residence, and Crangle’s wife called police at about 12:30 p.m., according to Stauffiger.

“He was arraigned by Judge Scott Reardon in Kenmore and was released on his own recognizance,” Stauffiger said.

Crangle’s wife also obtained an order of protection against her husband.

Further details about the incident, including exactly what occurred between Crangle and his wife, are not being released.

It’s not the first time Crangle’s wife has called police during an altercation. A similar incident occurred on Nov. 17, when she told police Crangle shoved her to the ground and stole her purse.

“The woman reports that when she arrived at her home, her estranged husband (Crangle) was waiting for her,” the report from November states.

She declined to press charges following the November fight, and her belongings were returned to her.

“She hopes police interaction will change his behavior,” the report states.

Dan Crangle didn’t have much to say about most recent incident, but noted that he and his wife are going through a divorce.

“It’s between me and my wife,” he said. “I don’t have any comment. ...It’s not a good day.”
